Abstract
At the end of the XX c. a large part of the archaic lexis comes back into active use in the Russian language. The paper focuses on thе lexis which is still classified in dictionaries as obsolete and stylistically limited. Its activation and contemporary use do not match dictionaries’ data. Stylistic neutralization and in some cases – semantic changes are already typical for many of the lexemes in question.
Keywords: mistakes or trend, obsolete lexis, slavisms, stylistic synonyms
