FUNCTIONS OF SYMBOL AND ALLUSION IN DAN BROWN’S NOVEL “THE DA VINCI CODE”

Abstract
The article studies allusions and symbols in Dan Brown’s novel “The Da Vinci Code”. The points investigated are author’s usage of allusions and symbols and their functions in the text of the novel. The conclusion are that both symbols and allusions are similar in functional aspect and fulfill the persuasive function, the text-forming function, the predictive function, the image-forming function and the plot developing function.
