Abstract
The research deals with the Arabic-Persian lexis used in the “Terdzhiman” newspaper. The borrowings are studied on morphological, lexical and syntactic levels. The research analyzes the replacement of the Arabic-Persian words with Turkic synonyms and Russian equivalents. The research concludes that there is gradual decrease in the usage of the Arabic-Persian lexical units while the usage of borrowings from the Russian language increases. In this process the intention of I. Gasprinsky to create the “Turki” language and its use in the “Terdzhiman” newspaper can be seen.
