Abstract
The article provides an analysis of the main oppositions the novel Condemned contains: "illusions — reality", "youth — maturity", "socialization — solitude", "the good mother — the strict father". The author analyses their semantic content and dynamics in the novel. In conclusion it is concluded the system of oppositions organizes the ideological structure of the novel. The system of oppositions reflects a disharmonious state of mind of the characters (their calm and life are under threat of destruction).
