Abstract
The article discusses the main approaches to the development of journalism students at the reception English-speaking competence with the active use of electronic resources. We consider the etymology of the term "linguistic competence" in the history of linguistics and methods of teaching foreign languages, show possible ways to make more effective use of electronic resources for the formation of students' specialty "journalism" English-language skills of professional communication.
