Abstract
The article focuses on genre features of the English scientific blog – a bright representative of informal research communication. The texts of scientific blogs are marked by the combination of different kinds of discourse, semantic diffusion, and accentuated manifestation of interpersonality. This genre essentially complements research communication as an alternative, liberal communicative format, which opposes, to a certain extent, traditional modes of scholarly interaction.
